Would you like to see a photo of the woman who did my most recent tattoo? Majenta is an amazing woman, the lead singer of a band called The Razorbabes. Not quite my style of music, but the woman is a phenomenal artist. I’ve known she was good ever since my exboyfriend told me she was a “fat whore.” He was the type who insulted anyone who was better than him, thus I knew she must be really skilled to earn his wrath.

I actually just tried to make an appointment with her today–but she’s on tour. I need to get my Dragonfly tattoo reinked. It’s starting to look sad when compared to my trillium.

Ariel’s tattoo gallery, because I know you’re curious:
Dragonfly Tattoo, right bicep, April 1996 by some guy named Daryl Ray at a hole called Skinprints. Photo was taken November of 1996. I had a little color added to the wings shortly after this photo was taken, but the whole thing has faded miserably in the five years since. I found the design online: it was the logo for a now defunct international organization of odonatologists (dragon/damselfly scientists).

Back Tattoo March 1997 by John. The piece is still unfinished (the artist died before he could complete it), and I’ve remembered how badly it hurt and have wondered if I’ll ever get it finished up. The original plan was to finish it up as a belt after I have my kid, whenever that may be.

Trillium Tattoo, left bicep, May 2000 by Majenta at Top Tattoo. This was a gift from my mother–it’s our family flower and she has one on her left bicep as well (although a different design–her’s is more flowery where-as my is more design-y. I wanted it to match the feel of my other pieces). The plan was to get my father to get one as well, but since the divorce he seems uninterested. Apologies for the fuzzy photo–this is an amazing piece of work, and the colors are still brilliant a year later. Design by me.
