Bad Daughter
Yesterday I stood up my mother for dinner. Isn’t that awful? That’s awful! See, I made plans with her when I thought I was going to Seattle on Tuesday. Then the plan switched to Thursday, and my brain just switched EVERYTHING from Tuesday to Thursday, without making the appropriate phone calls. What a bad daughter I am!
This week has found me reverting back to 7th-8th-9th grade when I used to have 15 pen pals and getting the mail was the most exciting part of my day during the summer. That’s what happens when you don’t have a driver’s license, both your parents work, and you live out in the woods: the mail man is your best friend. This time, however, I’m waiting for my letter from Columbia Publishing Course. I should get word this week as to whether I’ve been accepted.
In other news, the article I submitted to Nerve and Salon a few weeks ago was rejected from Nerve. Salon never did respond, even to my confirmation of receipt email, so I’ll assume it was rejected from there, too. Eh, that’s fine. That’s why I’m a prolific writer: so that half of it can be rejected!
Also, today I begin the “power phase” of my cleanse. That means one meal a day for the next three days. Bring it on!
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.
