Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
Today is my last day in Los Angeles. Andreas headed home yesterday, after we had a nice Mexican brekky. Jorsh (who henceforth shall never be called Josh), Megasoul’s roommate, gave me a ride over to Dot’s around 3pm, and I got to enjoy the final closing gathering of GOTT. Last year, this event was a pool party, and I do wish it had been this year as well, but a backyard bar-b sufficed quite nicely.
Kris, a woman who took photos of GOTT for Lotus last year, took a whole bunch more this year, and let me have some duplicates. I’ll scan them when I get home. In other “instant gratification,” we also watched the GOTT video Maggie from Vancouver, BC had made. Crazy! We were just there…and there it is on screen and paper. Wacky.
I chatted at length with Cinnamon Twist, Bing (who needed reminding a couple times that I was from Olympia, not LA), Driver, and half a dozen other people. I told a lot of stories, which is something I do all the time, but I got particularly warmed up yesterday and rattled off story after story for anyone who would listen. Eventually I fell pray to the opium den ambiance that Dot’s living room became. By that point I’d been there for seven hours, and REALLY wanted to get back to Megasoul’s…but, but, but, of course no one would give me a ride. I fell asleep on Dot’s bed for a while, but then woke up to she and someone making out on it, and stumbled of to insist that someone, ANYONE, give me a ride to Megasoul’s, which was a whopping 10 minutes away.
Alex aka Ra-Ra agreed, and I was glad because then we got to sit in the car and sob together for a while. Nothing like an over-whelming week to push you over the edge.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, is in bookstores now.
