To the writer
Words are like rain on a rooftop
Not only nourishing
Not only saturating
But a reassurement of the natural order of it all
The words
Like the rain
Can keep you at home some nights
The words
like the rain
make little things grow large
and make the streets shine
Words
Like rain
Can make you wet
Rain
Like words
Can find you unprepared
Pissed off
(And pissed on)
Both rain and words have a way of dripping down your face
Rain getting in your eyes
Words falling out of your mouth
Fingertips and tongues
The thunderclouds of expression
