Job Interview
…Went very well. The company is a 15 minute walk downhill from my apartment, and is a rare left-over from 1999: a start-up. Not an internet start-up, but a marketing/advertising start-up. The guy interviewing me (who would be my boss and is founder of the company) was a twenty-something wearing shorts and a tshirt. Turns out he lives with a girl I graduated high school with. He interspersed terms like “shit-ton” with “customer acquisition process” and “Referral marketing leverages relationships.”
Since it’s a start-up environment, the “copywriting” position would involve a lot more than writing copy. Stuff like stretegic marketing. That’s fine. I’m all for marketing experience. After all, what’s a magazine but a content-heavy marketing vehicle? It’s sad, but it’s true.
Best sign? He said that out of all the resumes he’d gotten, I was the only one he interviewed.
