In other news, today I turned in a resume at Toys in Babeland. They’re hiring a PT “Sales Associate/Sex Educator.” As I walked home, I passed a space that used to house Sammie Sue’s Diner, a yummy southern breakfast joint. Now it’s 1200 Bistro (a name almost as bad as that restaurant •ing down the hill. Yes, just •ing). As I walked by, I watched an older woman with too much lipstick do that thing women with too much lipstick do: opening her mouth REALLY WIDE to get the food into her mouth without disturbing her lip art. Eesh. Now THAT’S gentrification personified.
