Beds
This was written last night, but Blogger seemed to be having issues. This post brought to you by the even-more-intriguing-in-person Dori, who advised me on where to find a computer for hire near Union Square.
Tonight will break my week+ bed tour. For the last eight days I’ve slept in a different bed each night, but tonight [last night] I will sleep again on Terra’s velvet futon couch and break the streak. Here are my reviews:
Night 1, Friday 12/7: My own bed, but with a different blanket, since my mother stole mine to do something to it. I slept well since the boyfriend pillow was present.
Night 2, Saturday 12/8: The front passenger seat of the Honda, at a rest stop just south of Stockton, CA. Didn’t get to sleep until 4:00 or so. Slept cramped and uncomfortably, with a down vest for a pillow and all my clothes on.
Night 3, Sunday 12/9: Dot’s bed in Echo Park. Dre and I collapsed into it around 5pm. Nice bedding, soft jersey sheets, but a few odd springs poking out in the mattress. Mild cat hair. Great view of Hollywood sign and downtown LA.
Night 4, Monday 12/10: Living room bed at Dot’s. Single sized mattress. Andreas and I spoon because that’s the only way to fit. Room was a bit cold, and I woke up with a mild backache.
Night 5, Tuesday 12/11: L shaped couch at Brian & Heather’s in Santa Monica. Dre and I stretch out at 90 degree angles from eachother, heads together on one pillow. Soft leather couch ends up doing something bad to the mild aching from the night before, and I wake up in pain and have to do sleepy half-assed yoga on the floor while still wrapped in my blanket.
Night 6, Wednesday 12/12: Dot’s boyfriend Paul thankfully lets Andreas and I enjoy some time alone in a real bed at his house in Venice. Paul introduces us to his dog, who proved me not to be the only bitch in heat in the room.
Night 7, Thursday 12/13: After 14 hours of travelling, I slept blissfully on Kate and Melissa’s sumptuous hide a bed in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Wake up to the sound of their cat knocking what sounds like a spoon around. Learn about how NYC apartments don’t have thermostats.
Night 8, Friday 12/14: Enjoy Terra’s fantastic velvet futon couch, which sports a great view of a TV with cable (exciting to me). Enjoy sounds of the Upper West Side all morning while sleeping until 1pm.
I’ll be back at Terra’s tonight [last night], and then back in Echo Park tomorrow night, so things are getting a bit more consistent.
12:10 AM: I am back in Los Angeles, and had a lovely 4.5 hour flight with a full row all to myself. Stretching out on sedatives at 30,000 feet is really nice.
