This morning a supervisor pulled me aside and asked about my skirt-over-pants look. She claims to have first noticed me wearing the style, and then seen 3 other people in the last week doing it. “You must have started a trend!” she said.

I didn’t have the heart to tell her that women have been wearing this style in Seattle for a few years. The layered thing just makes so much sense in this climate, and it’s nice to get to wear your skirts during the winter when it’s all wet and grisley. Regardless, I take my assignment as “20something style ambassador” in stride: no need to make the diplomats feel uncomfortable.
