TC and I went to go see The Cockettes last night, and I have a question: in the film, a former Cockette says “LA had more flower children, while SF was more about hippies.” I’d like to understand the nuance between the two. Can anyone help me?
It might sound like a silly question, but I know that there are always subtle deliniations within subcultures. To someone outside the rave community the difference between a psy-trance fan and a junglist might seem indistinct, but I could easily charactarize each of the two sub-subcultures separately.
Great fucking movie, by the way. Highly recommended.
