I’m still in Northern California — back from camping out near Quintette (special prize for anyone who can find THAT on a map), but spending the night in Hayward at my aunts’ house. I lived here when I first moved down to the Bay Area…six years ago. Can you believe that? My year-long San Francisco Epic Adventure started just over six years ago. Tonight I hung out in the back yard, remembering the morning afters when I used to hang out on the lawn and lazily wait to get tired. Good times. Glad they’re long gone, but the yard is even more beautiful now than it was then.
Camping at Camp Pair-A-Dime was good, although filled with a fine red dust that rivaled Burning Man’s fine white dust in terms of complete and total body coverage. We sat around the campfire, played scrabble (I won…but just barely), and ate the best apple pie I’ve ever had. Ever!
Tomorrow mom and I will head south on I-5 back to Los Angeles. I’m behind on e-mail and job hunting.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.
