Ariel’s Oatmeal
1 1/2 cup filtered water (especially important if you live in LA!)
1/2 cup whole oats (not instant!)
1/3 cup plain yogurt (organic lowfat)
1/3 cup milk (organic lowfat)
1/4 cup raisins
1/4 cup walnuts
1/4 cup shredded coconut
2 tablespoons honey (organic)
Bring water to boil in a sauce pan. Add oats, raisins, walnuts, and coconut. Boil for two minutes, stir, then turn heat down to low. Simmer for five minutes. Turn off heat, let sit for two minutes. Blop out into bowl. Add plain yogurt, milk, and drizzle with honey. Enjoy with premium black tea. Makes enough for one hungry woman.

I don’t have a microwave, which is unfortunate if only because it means I get a pan AND a bowl dirty making oatmeal … instead of just a bowl.

I like to add the oatmeal to the cold water and bring them to boil together. This makes for a creamier oatmeal. The regular rolled oats are better tasting too.

Yum! I also like to add a chopped up green apple as it cooks or I sometimes use 3/4’s oatmeal (I like steel-cut) and 1/4 cracked wheat - and real maple syrup on top is so good!

Okay, I printed out the recipe, bought the ingredients at the store, waited for a quiet moment on the weekend and…I can safely verfiy that this oatmeal recipe kicks the ass of any ‘microwave’ or “instant” oatmeal that I’ve ever had. It was REALLY good! Thanks, Ariel!
