The Museum of Jurassic Technology is undeniably the weirdest place I have ever been in Los Angeles. Originally recommended to me by Cyn (thank you!), the museum features exhibits of natural wonder … roughly half of which are fabricated. The don’t tell you, however, which half. As the founder says in this great NPR piece, “We feel that confusion can be a very creative state of mind.” If you don’t have the energy to listen to the All Things Considered bit, here’s the transcript.
My dad’s visit seemed a great excuse to go take a look around the museum. Despite his initial frustration about why the word “Jurassic” is in the title when there is nothing dinosaur or otherwise Jurassic-related in the museum, Dad eventually more than warmed up to the mysterious, baffling nature of the place. Highly recommended for appreciators of the weird.
Equally baffling and wonderful was the dinner at Venus of Venice.

to enlighten your ongoing “interest” in justin timberlake. i have a bit of information for you. a friend of mine is friends with Wade Robson. I went to her X-Mas party and was talking with him. well, it seems that ben affleck wasn’t the real, if only, reason justin and britney are no longer–apparently brit is a total douche, cause she was also fucking wade.

Air, have you been to Astroburger yet? I should have taken you when I was there. The only fastfood drive-through (besides Taco Bell) with solid vegetarian choices. You’ll go nuts! Ask for LIGHT mayo, though, because they tend to slather it on. There is another one besides this link, but I can’t for the life of me remember where it is. The other one’s not drive-through, tho. Since it’s a bit of a ways from you, be sure not to go during rush hours (which is most of the freakin’ day in LA.)

There’s a book about the museum that’s also very good (and wacko). Did they have the minatures when you went? The used to have an amazing collection of minatures, but last time I went they weren’t there.
