Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
Andreas and I ran around in a mad dash this morning, trying to get all our cleanse supplies ready for days at work. He madly threw together sack lunches (see “MORE…” link for menu) while I made little envelopes of “Herbal Nutrition” and “Chomper” pills, and measured out piles of psyllium husk in little plastic baggies. We each got a bottle of hydrated bentonate (clay!).
Our dining room table has been taken over by an assortment of pill bottles and piles of strange brown powders.
As for how I’m feeling? A little headachey this afternoon, and things got a little touch and go tonight as we were grocery shopping for dinner. Luckily, one of these things and a big apple/wheatgrass/ginger juice saved me.
Juicy excuse for breakfast:
Celery apple juice
Lunch:
dry salad w/ carrots, apples, celery, soaked almonds. Side of avocado (nature’s butter!) and pear.
Dinner:
Stuffed shiitake mushrooms
Strawberry, coconut, pinapple salad

almonds? I thought nuts were a no-no, because of the protein. Are almonds okay? That would have made a big difference…

According to “The Cleanse Cookbook,” almonds soaked in water overnight are ok. Weird, eh?

Wow, I must have missed that. I hope you keep posting your recipes (it’s good to share ideas).
What did you stuff your mushrooms with?

The mushrooms were stuffed with an avo/tomato/lemon juice/garlic compote with cumin and coriander, topped with onions and celery with a dash of curry.

I looked into the sites you put on you blog but what if your over weight a little and go straight to the cleanse? will you feel sick or clammy like when you skip meals? or can you more or less graze a bit during the day till you body gets used to the lower amounts.Im really interested in this but i dont know if i can hold out for a full month.

Felicia, there are different phases of the cleanse, the easiest of which is the “mild phase,” which is still three meals a day…but only cleanse food (ie fruits and veggies). It’s an easy way to transition into the cleanse. But you can not graze during the day on any of the phases.
That said, this cleanse isn’t as hard as you’d think…as long as you have a buddy! It’s hard to do alone, but if you have a partner to cook and eat and share stories with, it’s totally do-able. I have NO discipline, and even *I* can do it!
