Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
Today was much easier. No headaches, and no moments of near-dementia. Toughest part of the day was breathing in the yummy smells of pizza at lunch, while my coworkers watched me eat what must have looked like fetal aliens.
Energy level is pretty good, although I declined to go to my weekly African dance class tonight. Between cleansing and re-adapting to a 40-hour work week (+ freelance projects for Shift, PoliceUSA, and Amazon!), I felt like I needed some downtime.
Tomorrow I’ll test my endurance with a trip to the gym at work.
Juicy excuse for breakfast:
Carrot celery apple
Lunch:
Alkalizing sushi, with avos, spinach, shredded carrots, and tomatos. Did not look at all like sushi…sort of strange triangular nori globs. But mmm…they were good!
Disappointingly bland millet with veggies
Dinner:
Stunning orange juice (oranges gifted to me from boss, who got them from her boyfriend’s ranch!)
Yummy veggie curry
Dessert:
Baked apples with raisins and sweet sauce. Stunning!

I applaud your dedication, which is always helped out with a dose of humor…

The curry was built on a veggie broth with lots of veggies braised in lemon juice (zuccini, onions, corn, peas, tomatos, green pepper, mushrooms, ginger) spiced with copious amounts of cumin and curry.

Are you cooking all your meals yourself? Did you get the recipes from the cleanse people?
Still very interested, but daunted, here.

Glace, we are cooking everything ourselves (Do you know of any restaurants specializing in food with no salt, pepper, dairy, grains, diary, meat, or soy? I don’t!), getting the recipes from this book: The Cleanse Cookbook, which we bought separately from the cleanse products, but which is written specifically for folks on the Arise & Shine program.

How do you get protein on this cleanse? Or is the point not to? Also, isn’t millet a grain? Deathly curious…my mom does a high-alkaline diet and swears by it.

Millet is a grain, but according to that same “Cleanse Cookbook,” it’s an alkalizing grain.
And re: protein. According to the guy who developed the program, that while foods like dairy, meat, soy, etc are high in protein, they’re so hard for the body to process that very little of the protein is actually absorbed by the intestines. Therefore, you get more protein from easily digestable sources like veggies than you can from a slab of steak.
Here’s the quote: “Many more people are sick because of too much protein rather than not enough. Protein is in all fruits and vegetables. Though meat eaters consume more protein, they actually have more protein deficiencies than vegetarians because of dysfunctional liver and digestive activity resulting from intake of too many acid-forming foods.”
I’m not totally sure if I buy it, but I do know that I feel like a million bucks when I do this cleanse, and so I’m not too worried about not getting a lot of non-veggie protein when I’m cleansing.
