I spent most of the day today feeling great. Really really good. Not hungry. Not shaky. Definitely no delerium. I actually had the fleeting thought, “Why do people bother with eating when it’s so easy not to?” Then I smelled popcorn and remembered that I was functioning as temporary non-human, and to shut up.
Mucoid plaque expellation is impressive. Let’s just quantify it this way: a couple feet a day. At least. Gross! Satisfying!
Tonight we ate our last cleanse meal. And our last meal until Sunday night.

You might have mentioned this already, and it might be in the articles that have been linked, too, but since I’m a lazy slug: what is it about this diet that sparks the mucoid plaque expellation?

Zosia, there’s a whole book that discusses how the cleanse works, but here’s my short paraphrasing…I’m not totally sure I’ve got all of this right, but here goes:
The goal of the *diet* aspect of the cleanse is that it fosters an alkaline intestinal environment. Mucoid plaque builds up as protection against the foods we eat that cause an acidic environment. So by only eating foods that foster an alkaline environment, you loosen the plaque. The glop shake and pill aspect of the cleanse actually gets the loosened plaque out. The bentonite in the clay gloms onto the plaque pulling it away from the sides of the intestines, and then the psyllium husk and laxitive herbs push it out.
