This cleanse is really getting me in touch with my tupperware. Somehow (primarily through inadvertant stealing from family members) Andreas and I have collected a few nice little containers perfect for taking strange green concotions to work. Tupperware: yes!
I got a little off my schedule last night, since I went out for a drink (juice) with Lisa, who was in town from NYC. This cleanse has ridiculous regimen of a glop shake, handful of herbal pills, or food every hour and a half. When I’ve done it in the past, I’ve made little “to go” packs of pills, powder, and glop that I carried with my everywhere…but I didn’t think to make myself one such packet yesterday, and so I missed a glop shake. I did not, thankfully, explode or anything. Life went on just fine.
Feeling pretty good. Have lost three pounds in the last week. Hair seems remarkably shiny, but that could be the power of suggestion. Isn’t it ALWAYS this shiny?
JEFB:
Apple. Simple apple juice is TO DIE FOR. Sweet brown gold. That got me wondering…IF, since lemon juice sprayed on apple slices prevents them from oxidizing and turning brown, THEN, if you do a lemon with the apples, will the juice stay light instead of browning? Tune in tomorrow for the answer.
Lunch:
I’m really into the sweet pea sprouts on salads. I’m going to mourn when our supply runs out and I’ll have to wait until next Saturday to get more. Today’s addition? An apple vinagrette dressing blended with garlic and avocado. Mm! Creamy! Also, we went to the Santa Monica co-op and spent way too much money on some of those yummy raw bars, and I gobbled one on the spot. Oh, and strawberries and dates again for dessert. Those tastes compliment each other nicely.
Dinner:
Dre and I tried our hands at making green curry like we had on Friday night. While our’s in no way compared to Bobby & Juju’s, it was a pretty good attempt! Dre made enough green curry paste to last us well into the next decade and relearned the lesson “Do not scratch your balls after handling raw green chilis.” I blended a bit of the curry paste with some coconut milk and avocoado (for thickness), and it tasted pretty decent! We poured it over thin noodle-esque slices of yellow squash and zuccini, with red bell peppers and sliced sweet peas. Steamed asparagus on the side. Not bad! Finished up the strawberries and dates for dessert.
The disparity between the amount of intestinal input vs output is quite remarkable. Yesterday I ate the equivalent of two lunch sides (soup and salad), but the resultant outcome was quite…impressive.

I, for one, am not sick of these posts at all! In fact, I braved Asstronaut’s entire LJ the other day. After all, if I’m gonna do it myself, I wanna know what I’m in for — in graphic detail!
