Yesterday, I had the opportunity to demonstrate my clumsy mastery of the ASL alphabet. My signing was a bit rusty (since I haven’t seen Echo in a few months — I miss you, girl!), but I spelled out the word that needed conveying, and there was smiling involved. Yay communication!
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

Had a friend once end up in emergency then ICU with a massive brain hemmorhage. The docs weren’t sure if he’d still have his mental faculties when he, IF he, woke up. But he opened his eyes, realized he couldn’t talk because of the tube in his throat, and decided to communicate by harking back to elementary school ASL alphabet days. That was pretty exciting, not only was he there, but that he could remember something like that. Go communication, yeah!
