At the recommendation of Neille, I went with my friend Amanda to check out Rozina’s on Venice, a little salon that specializes in khite, the Indian/Middle Eastern thread method of depilation.
Woah. Something about the process made both Amanda’s and my eyes water like crazy when we got our brows done. Totally uncontrollable eye watering. But it was fast (2 minutes?) and cheap ($3.00! — less than half of waxing!) and close to home. As the weenie whities with watering eyes, we got a good-natured ribbing on the way out, but by that point we were so high off the endorphines that neither of us cared.
If you live in a big city where you can find this sort of service (look in Indian or predominantly Muslim neighborhoods), try it.

my personal feeling on this subject is that it’s not so much the method but the skill of the artist. (in other words, not everyone creates a good shape, and I think someone who has the ability to *see* your face is a rare find.
so we need pictures to give a real opinion ;).

How was the pain factor?

Pain was equal to waxing…although a very different sensation.

in my opinion, threading hurts a lot more than waxing! waxing only lasts maybe 1 second max, of pain…but threading on the other hand lasts a bit longer. i thought that waxing was a lot better, BUT threading did give a better shaped eyebrow and was a lot cheaper than waxing…All in all, threading is okay, you just have to find someone that is quick and talented, that way, there is less pain and a nicer looking result!
