I’m looking for screensavers that don’t suck. No noises, no ads, no crying puppies or mood-enhancing digital waterfalls. I want funky! I want artistic! I want cleverness! I want irony! Any suggestions?
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

People still use screensavers?
I can’t help with screensavers, but I did develop some of my own desktop images a while back.

scully- a lot of companies require everyone to have a screensaver with a password on their machines, as a security measure while you’re away from your desk.
i got a slideshow screensaver from webshots.com that cycles through photos you load into it. for my photos, i used a bunch of spoof motivational posters. You know those stupid office motivational posters with one big word at the bottom like “Confidence” or “Persistence”? These are take-offs on those with words like “Procrastination” , “Apathy” and “Mediocrity”. They’re pretty funny. (http://www.meadmaker.com/joke/mot/mot01.html)

Dave: My office realises that a screensaver is a poor substitute for real security
Ariel said she was looking for “funky” “artistic” and “cleverness.” She didn’t mention drum-tight security.
Also, please notice the winking emoticion at the end of the original comment.
Happy Friday folks!

At one time, I had a configurable screen saver prog called “Drempels”. It was this liquid trippy color/pattern morph kinda thing, and it looked great, but it would never come on when it was supposed to. Of course, at the time, there was (unbeknownst to me) a nasty little executable raging through my system as a result of some horrid piggyback prog from something I had installed, and eventually, I had to reformat to clean up, so it may have been that…looked fantastic, though…

I’m a big fan of the Magritte screen savers included with this Magritte desktop theme. They’re animated versions of Magritte paintings, not just slide shows. So, the painting of the rain of bowler-hat-wearing men is made into a screen saver involving the animated raining of those men. I think it’s quite entertaining.

Considering I don’t know your computer configuration, I don’t know if any of these will work for you.. But if they do these are some of my favorite screens.

Angelicus … This ones hard to find. maybe it isn’t but as far as I know the author doesn’t have a website currently. It should be mobbing it on cdrom.com or simtel or whatever though. It’s extremely beautiful. there are others.. scr’s are one of my favorite Otaku’s. these are off the top of my head and haven’t been mentioned.
