If I were an Avon Lady, I would sell Burt’s Bees products. ALL BURT’S BEES! I guess that would make me a Burt’s Lady, but that would make me sound like a hooker, so in my imaginary land where I drive a car earned by reaching an upper sales level for my region, I’ll just pretend I’m called a “Bee Girl.”
As Bee Girl, I would first talk about all the Bees products I use: it all started with the chapstick. Everybody loves their chapstick. Then I moved onto the lipstick. Color? “Honesty.” (Honestly, the only thing I don’t like about Burt’s is their hokey color names.) Then the orange essense facial cleanser. Then their Milk & Honey lotion, their blush (in “Clarity” — groan), their eyeshadow, their concealer, their carrot cream.
You might notice a theme here? All of the Bees products sound sort of, well, foody, don’t they? Well, ladies [insert flourish of Bee Girl hand] that’s because every Burt’s Bees product that goes on your skin is also edible. Why, ladies? Well, because Burt’s Bees understand that anything you put on your skin will be absorbed into your body. Do you want to be absorbing weird chemicals and talcs and dyes? Hell no! So, our friends at Burt’s Bees figured that safest way to make sure that what goes on your skin isn’t bad for you is to make sure that you could eat it. Side bonus: if you get some of the Orange Essense facial cleanser in your mouth, it doesn’t taste bad!
Another nice thing about Bees products? All packaging is both recycled and recyclable. Isn’t that great! Pink cocktail anyone?
And how can you not love a company with a story like this! And a company that values conservation projects like this!
And don’t even get me started on how the lipstick tingles when you put it on. Looks like lipstick — feels like chapstick! And “Honesty” looks good on absolutely everyone. Trust me: I’ve forced everyone I know to try it. Honkies, Asians, Latinas, Jews, Redheads, etc etc etc. You have lips, “Honesty” looks good.
Any more questions? Well then — who wants appetizers, ladies?

Honesty is my favorite color, too. Actually, it’s the only one I like. They need to come up with a nudish color for daywear, because Honesty is more night time on me. Aveda also has the minty thang goin’ on in their colored lip balm in a tube.

I haven’t tried the cosmetics, but I think I will now! I’m a walking advertisement for Burt’s. I swear by the coconut foot salve, the cuticle cream is part of my morning routine, I’m seriously impressed with the rescue ointment, and I’ve been known to lose it if I don’t have some lip balm within arm’s reach at any given moment. I am truly a Bee Bitch.

I just recently got into Burt’s. Over the past year, I switched to organic foods and recently realized that natural makeup and skin products were important considerations too. What I did was buy a cosmetic sampler bag (around $15) and a skin care sampler bag (around $12) and am now trying everything out! The carrot creme is a little too oil-producing for my skin, but I love the other products.

Ahhh! I couldn’t agree more. For me, it started with the chapstick as well. I’ve also enjoyed the avacado hair butter, the carrot cream and the carrot nutritive night cream, the orange essence face wash (personal favorite), the wild lettuce toner, the tinted moisturizer, and my newest addiction, the marshmallow vanishing creme.
Oh, I completely forgot the baby bee products. They smell like heaven. I use the baby bee solid perfume every day.
if you were a bee girl, i’d be your biggest customer, even from across the country.

My friend gave me a SHOPPING BAG full of products when she came to visit in September…I almost cried. I was able to try every product the good Burt makes…and yes, the lipstick is to die for…but what really makes me weak in the knees is the lemon cuticle cream. Good for more than just cuticles, ladies!!!

Ladies, I can’t believe I failed to mention the Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream in my post! It’s perfect for those super dry fingers brought on by both recycled office air and Burning Man. Thanks to each of you for reminding me. I’ve got a tin on my desk at work.

I always look at Burt’s cosmetics during the weekly grocery trip to the health food store, but have been hesitant to try them (got burned in the past with not-so-good “all natural” cosmetics). You totally sold me, though. Send them an email and ask for commission!
