Wow! I went for my first visit last night and I was blown away by the food. The flavors were exciting and sensual. The sushi, fries, butternut squash soup, olives, rawvioli, cheescake were all superb. Unbelievably Superb!

Yes, the portions were small but that's because we have become pigs and want portions that hang over our plates like our guts hang over our pants. The servings are French size and should be. The dishes are labor intensive works of art and we do have to pay for Juliano's skill. I enjoyed his dishes far more than I did Wolgang Pucks at Spago's and paid a third of the cost.

Now the services was another matter altogether. Too few wait staff and the kitchen was very slow. So I used it as an opportunity to practice patience and gratitude for living in this beautiful, war-free city. All in all I give Juliano's a thumbs up and a high recommendation. I will make return visit AND tell a friend.

Went to Juliano's two months ago. I walked in to Juliano, a few females (appeared to be groupies - not staff), a woman on her laptop and another person all previewing his new cook book proofs. I walked in and asked for some change for the Santa Monica Meters. Never once did any of the staff at the bar say hello or asked if they could help me. Any of you that have been there know that you walk in and there is only a small place to stand right in front of the bar. I had to wait 19 minutes to get a few quarters for the meter.

I enjoyed the food I ordered at the restaurant. Had Rawvioli and Lasagna. Rawvioli was DIVINE Also got a pizza to go that was tasteless, small and way overpriced.

During my dining experience, I got to hear Juliano pitch a customer for millions to open 10 international raw restaurants each with small satellite locations. I just thought, WOW, you can't even greet a customer who stood right in front of you for over 15 minutes and you want 50 million dollars for 10 "world" restaurants.

I was glad to read Gina's comment - I was starting to get a little discouraged. I will definitely check this place out.
