Dear Donut dishes some of the best, cut-to-the-chase advice. She’s always been very helpful with my questions, and she’s never afraid to tell it like it is — but not in a mean way, like a former employer of mine.
That said, this line cuts to the bone:
You are 42, and yet you seem to have preserved the romantic outlook of an adolescent.
Ouch! And yet somehow, she manges to turn it around, and make it a pretty positive response. Read it yourself and see.

xtimu, that’s funny…er, if I’m making sense of it correctly (that page is pretty hard to decipher). I can say, after my 2 days of assisting the advice goddess, that it wasn’t a working relationship that was going to work out for me. So I quit.

Thanks for the link, Ariel. –Amy Alkon
PS to xtimu — don’t quit your slacker job to become an investigative reporter just yet. “I’m a pretty good employer” (from the link you pointed out) isn’t exactly the brag of the century.Does yours buy you lunch whenever you’re there at lunch time, pay for your gas, give you bonuses, and bring you presents when they travel? Probably not. That’s because you don’t work for me — lucky me!

Wow! When does she have time to write “advice” columns?
Oh, well. I guess she has much more time to lurk in interesting people’s comments. I can’t imagine that someone buying you lunch would make up for THAT.
p.s. I wasn’t investigating. That link came up during totally pointless surfing & it made me laugh all the way home. Heeheehee.
