Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
This morning I picked up The Da Vinci Code and I haven’t really put it down since. Dre and I went to the beach, and I read it. Then we came home, and I read it. Then he left to play soccer, and I read it. Then I called my mom to tell her SHE should read it (Christianity’s repression of the divine feminine could not possible be any more up my mom’s alley). Then I read it some more, because despite its somewhat pulpy style — chapters end with lines like, “…when I opened the box, I couldn’t believe what I saw!” — The Da Vinci Code is well researched and facinating. And, according to the book’s Amazon sales rank, I’m not the only one who thinks so. It toppled Harry Potter, for godsake!
And now, I must return to reading it.

I’m so excited that you’re reading that book! I agree that the writing style leaves something to be desired, and sometimes the characters resolve their problems a bit too easily/quickly, but all the intertwined symbolism that the book talks about is fascinating! After I finished reading it I poured over all my art history books, looking for hidden meanings and symbols. I can’t wait to hear what you think of the end.
The Official website offers some helpful pictures of places mentioned in the book (for those of us who have never been to Paris…poobah!).
It was a fantastic book, but even so, I’m still a Harry Potter girl.

One 6 hour sitting, and the book was done. I missed work to finish it. Love suspense.
