So, I just watched the new Britney Spears/Madonna video, and the first thing I noticed was how many totally random product placements it features. A totally unneccessary flash of a branded pizza box, a cell phone that appears for a moment, and then is gone, a carefully shown sportscar (logo prominantly displayed)…none of these things really fit into the video at all. Not that there’s much of a plot (Madonna watches Britney via a closed-circuit camera, Britney tries to chase her down) but the products stick out as totally bizarre. A box of Sbarro pizza at a club? What the hell?
That said, Madonna does amusingly unattractive contortions, and I love it when Britney tosses Madonna against the wall and leans in for her kiss. Camp at its finest! You can almost hear Madge whispering in Britney’s ear, “You be Ashton, I’ll be Demi. Kiss me, you little whore!” It’s about as scandalous (and calculated for sales) as a k-mart blue light special, but it still cracks me up.
I’m starting to think that Madge and Brit really are more alike than I’d originally thought, which scares me because that means I’ve got to deal with at least 15 more years of Britney.

For sparing me the need to see the video for myself, thank you!

i worked at a Sbarrro for over two years, all through high school. i hate their food.
as a lifelong Madonna fan, this all just really, really hurts. i feel very betrayed. i haven’t even watched the video because i know i’ll feel violated.
