i try to go by the rule that if it isn't useful, beautiful, and/or extraordinarily sentimental, it goes. and quickly. the longer you let something sit in the corner, the longer you have to consider whether you might need it someday.

the hardest to part with were books. but i got rid of anything that i wouldn't want to refer to constantly or read again and again. everything else i can get at the library or used store.

it's still hard. with the world all topsy-turvy, i just want to hole up with my stuff and wait for better times.

i had a moment of discardia this weekend and finally at least made a pile of all the old t-shirts i will never wear again and shoes i never wear in order to take to Goodwill or put in the bin here in Berkeley for the homeless. i go in spurts, but i think a larger spurt than just t-shirts is definitely needed in our house. good article too.

p.s. if you have anything you want to get rid of that others might enjoy (like me)...let us know ;)
