Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
(ETAA = Estimated Time of Andreas’ Arrival)
Andreas has crossed the Washington State line, and is slowly inching his way northward. Hurrah! As much as I’ve missed him these last three weeks, it’s always good to spend a little time apart. We’ve done this almost every year since we started dating.
In 1998, the day after we moved into our first apartment together, I left for a 20 day job in Arizona. I then spent 5 of the next 8 weeks travelling for work.
In 2000, I moved to Olympia, while he stayed in Seattle to work for four months.
In 2001, I spent the summer in New York City.
In 2002, Andreas moved to Los Angeles two months before I did.
And this year, of course, I moved back to Seattle almost a month before Andreas.
I may whine when Andreas (COO of Emotional Support) isn’t around, but I actually find our time apart always makes both of us happier and stronger and better partners to each other. Plus, the reunions are hot.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

Ooh la la, he’s in for a real treat for his welcome, and so are you! I’m glad he’s almost home!
I know what you mean about time away. We haven’t had that with the same regularity as you guys have, but when we have, romance is ALWAYS rekindled.
Sometimes I wonder if the nesting/shacking up urge takes over too soon, even for the lovingest of couples. Independence can be sooo good and sooo healthy.
