Weekend Players

I recently found Weekend Players’ album, Pursuit of Happiness, on my iPod (again: the advantage of getting one used!). I’m madly in love with it, now. It’s the perfect combination of mellow, melodic jazzy/pop vocals (I’ve been really into songs with words, lately…probably still swinging back from all those years of non-vocal “tetch-no”), and dreamy electronic soundscapes. Love it. Recommended.

It’s gotten a lot of comparisons to Everything But The Girl (ie, female vocalist with groovy backing electronic track). Lead singer’s voice is more like Sade, though. Check Amazon’s customer reviews for more comparisons.

It’s a side project by one of the Groove Armada folk, so if you like one, you’d probably like the other. I find myself bouncing to “Walking into the Sun” even when I’m not listening to it.

I’d like to know if the Weekend Players are going to come out with a new album. I love their music so much that I had to buy their CD again because I wore it out.
