My post about cockroaches in Maui has be linked by a web message board dedicated to “Crushers,” fetishists who are into crushing insects, crustaceans and other small creatures under their feet, or watching others do it. While I’m really not into the idea (deriving sexual gratification from the killing of small creatures strikes me as overwhelmingly cruel — can’t we just beat, whip, and abuse each other and leave the little animals alone?), I must appreciate that the internet is a bastion for the sharing of information — even if it’s information I don’t want. Bless the internet, indicator of global consciousness. Amen! (And blessings on all those poor crushed creatures…seriously.)
