For Christmas this year, I made some couple-friends matching hat/leg warmer sets made out of children’s sweaters. The sweater arms became the flared leg warmers (for her), and the body of the sweater became the hat (for him). Because really: doesn’t every couple want to wear matching winter accessories?
The gifts were pretty silly, complete with a ridiculous rhyming poem (which I’ve pasted into the comments if you’re interested). That said, it appears that they’re actually getting worn! Here’s my godsister’s hubby wearing his lovely/goofy new hat and proving once and for all that the French really don’t take themselves that seriously.

Two things:
1. If I made you a giftie set, send me a picture! Susannah, Terra, Rinz: THIS MEANS YOU!
2. Want your own set? I do custom orders, as of right now! Matching hat and leg warmers! Perfect! Cheap! By me! Guaranteed totally unusual and faboo!

Here are your his & her’s gifties!
I can guess what you’re going to say
“Why thank you very much, Ariel!
…But, um, what exactly are they?”
Don’t feel bad my friends,
They’re matching but a bit hard to name,
But I call these fancifully funky things
Ariel’s Winter Fashion Reclaimed!
For him it should be obvious,
Although perhaps a little funny.
I made him a hat!
It’s to keep his ears warm and sunny!
And it matches the gift for her,
I made them from the same cloth, see?
Because matching couples are super cute,
Well, at least to grandmas and me!
So, the gift for her is leg warmer set,
But of a special unique kind,
Cuz they’re flared near the bottom,
They’re sort of like spats, you’ll find!
The narrow part goes at the top,
All snug just under your knee,
The wider part fits around your ankles,
They look quite funky — you’ll see!
They look super with skirts,
You can wear them over hose or tights,
You can wear them up high to your knees,
Or slouchily scrunched down, if you like.
They also go well under pants,
All hidden for no-one to see,
They keep your calves so super warm,
And unlike long johns, not so butt-bunchy!
So Happy Holidays, my friends,
Enjoy your matching new accessories,
Here’s to all the best Season’s Greetings,
From your friend Ariel — that’s me!

Okay, lady, what’s the going rate?
Beacuse I’ve always admired your wardrobe…mostly because you make a lot of it yourself, and also because mine is so very different. Just drab jeans and boring sweaters. I’m too scared to try anything else.
Ariel to the rescue!

Let’s say…$20?
And you can pick a color. Not that the set will be EXCLUSIVELY that color, but I will guarantee that it will include AT LEAST that color.

You just did! All you have to do is tell me what color(s?) you like. Also: give me an idea of your calf size: are you a stick? Muscular? BBW? Let me know that part, too.
I’ll email privately with paypal info.

I’d LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE a hat and legwarmer set!
I’ve been thinking about begging friends of friends who knit for legwarmers — my mom suggested it, ’cause i always burn my legs on my radiator while i’m reading.
can i can i can i? oooh!!! and greens and warm colors would be great!

Sign me up for my matching set! I’m confused when you say to choose a color — I thought you just found old kids’ sweaters in which case doesn’t it depend what you have? Yay I’m excited!
