Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
We left Maui yesterday as planned. We arrived in Honolulu, and our two hour layover has turned into (at this point) a 24 hour delay, thanks to freezing rain and snow in Portland. (…remember? we’re flying into Portland?) Naturally, Seattle is fine, but flights to Seattle are full until next week. So we’re stuck in Honolulu, waiting for Portland to dethaw. At this point, we’re here at least until tomorrow morning.
Lucky things:
1. Andreas’ sister Gillian lives here (place to stay, tour guide, family to visit with)
2. It’s Honolulu for fuck’s sake! A few more days of sun.
3. I found a store selling the totally hypnotic Sunshine Babies. I bought two. Then I sat and watched them for a long long time.
So! Still not home. The only downside of this is that, as a contractor, every day I’m not working is every day I’m not making money. I’m going to be tan and broke when I get home.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

I love the statement - “These Sunshine Buddies work on the theory of perpetual motion.” Uhhhhh…. really? Cuz I thought the only “theory of perpetual motion” was - “There’s NO SUCH THING as perpetual motion!!”
Sorry… leave it to the physicist to spoil all the fun. They are cute, though.

You shouldn’t leave Hawaii without trying hurricane popcorn and sour patch kids covered in li-hing. YUM
