Last night I watched The Cockettes again. Such a great documentary. I think my favorite line has to be “…not this brown misery we have out here.” Also: is it just me, or does Goldie Glitters not say a single positive thing through the whole film? I realize that personality is all in the editing, and maybe Goldie is a real kind-hearted gal but wow: she comes off like the ultimate aging bitchy queen.

OH! I ran across that documentary a while back but didn’t get to see it from the beginning, I had no idea who they were! thanks for reminding me, I need to look it up to see if it’ll be on again soon.

Hi Ariel - I think we communicated a couple of years back… I’m producer and co-director of THE COCKETTES.
I just stumbled on to your site, and got a laugh out of your comments about Goldie. I can assure you, Bill and I did NOT do anything to enhance Goldie’s bitchiness…
As for the brown misery, Marshall - who spoke that line among many other great ones - died about 2 years ago. He’d had a habit on and off since the early 60s. An amazing man in so many ways.
