This looks like a great exercise for thinking ahead. It’s intended for careers, but would be applicable to personal projects, too.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

I’ve actually been thinking about writing an article similar to this for some time, and your link is goading me into finally doing it. While I think I can bang it out in the next day or two, in short, I advocate the exact opposite approach to what Erin suggests; she supports planning bottom-up - starting with the small, immediate stuff and building towards big goals - whereas I’ve come to believe top-down - figuring out the long term / big picture stuff that’s important and working backwards - gives you a much better chance of ending up where you want to be.
I’ll get crackin’ on the article asap.
