Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
Sometimes it feels like the best stories are the ones that burn the most bridges. It sucks, but isn’t surprising since the best writing is the kind with the least fear.
I have some great stories I could tell if I wasn’t afraid of Google and shoving my foot in my own mouth a few years down the road.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, is in bookstores now.

i think about that from time to time. that could well be why writers are loners, because everyone else becomes fodder for their stories.
but you’re right, the best stories and writing for me, are generally not fit for online consumption.
but would dorothy parker or sylvia plath worry about that?
of course back to my first observation, they ended up dying alone and miserable. but GREAT WRITERS!

I’m not a very good writer but my mad and sad stuff is dynamite.
I guess to really be good, one needs lots of practice and training…
or lots of guts to let it all hang out.

i prefer the latter of the two ..
complete honesty in any form isn’t always welcome in this world but damn , it’s nice to me!
it’s so rare to find anyone who shoots straight with love and truth.
let those stories out !

Get it written. Use pseudonyms (”Electrilicious”, etc). As one who’s constantly crazed by writers’ block, I’m always overcome by fear of getting it started. Just write it.

Believe it or not, I actually wasn’t talking about a specific story. Just a general observation.
And nope: I won’t burn my bridges. As a freelancer, I simply can’t afford to.
