I have long had a horrendous terror of creepy-crawlies, despite my fascinations with them. One night at Burning man we were in a tiny dome called Metamorphosis filled with dozens of wind-up and electronic bugs from the size of a plum to the size of a squash. I decided to overcome my fears and my friends put the chattering, scuttering, tingling bugs all over me and they tried to crawl inside my shoes and probe my ears while i squealed and squinted in horror. I'm not sure i'm entirely over my fear, but I don't scream and run away from spiders any more :-)

Aichmophobia? To think I have a phobia I didn;t even bother to learn the name of. "If you come near me with that thing I'm gonna pass out" has always been enough for me. Anyway... the "attraction" thing holds... it would certainly explain my predelection for women who are tattooed and pierced to within an inch of their lives.

"magnetic aichmophobia" clearly ought to be an album title. Or maybe just a song title for Stereolab.
