I’m having some problems with my webhost something…Movable Type seems to be stalling out on a lot of functions, and the end result is that stuff isn’t showing up in a timely matter. I’m looking into solutions, but things may be sort of weird around here for a bit.
Update: I think I figured out what my problem is, and it’s weird: something about my Norton Internet Security interfers with MT, and that’s why I get the hang time. How weird is THAT?
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

I had issues with dr2 and had to drop them, but I’m using pinchpenny.org and think they’re great. And equally cheap.

both f-train.org and my site run on phpwebhosting.com and have been pretty durn reliable. My one beef with them is that they do not have a great webmail client (they have 2, both beta, both work, but neither is really that good), but other than that they have been great.

Funny… me and my boi are both running MT on dr2 and have no trouble at all… I hope you manage to resolve the issue.

You know, I have no idea why I feel compelled to check on your blog every freaking day, sometimes twice a day. You are prentious in that west-coasty cooler-than-thou way also encountered in rich thirty somethings who live somehwere so cool their dreadlocks are holy relics and come down off their mountain once a year to sneer at some music festival where I also happen to be. I’m still trying to put my finger on it, but I am also still reading your blog. xxoo

Me, I’m still trying to put my finger on it, too. In the meantime, feel free to keep coming back…and consider coming out from behind the veil of anonymity. I track IPs, so you’re not really very anonymous regardless, and criticism is much more constructive when it comes from a real person instead of a “Me.”

re: your hosting problems - the only thing I’ve seen weird here was the other day (wednesday, I think), when I went to your site, Google popped up, instead. Weird.

Tumbleweed, that wasn’t hosting problems. That was troll-blocking. You must have briefly been in the same IP block as a known troll (who was revealed to be a regular reader’s 14 year old step brother! Mystery solved!)

I had the same problem with NIS 2003, *after* I had inadvertantly turned the ad blocking feature on. I turned it off again, and all was well with my MT setup.

Ooh, so it’s specifically ad-blocking. That’s VERY helpful information, since foxfire makes it easy to block ads, so I can just permanently disable that feature.
Very interesting. NIS interferes with my wireless set-up, too. It’s starting to be more of a pain in the ass than helpful. Grumble.
