As reported by Salon:
After the Boy Scouts of America sent Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) a letter saying it would be “honored” if he would lend the organization his support, Frank sent the following note in reply: “I was surprised that you wish my support. Where there is much about the Boy Scouts that I admire and I am a former Scout myself, I was under the impression that you considered people like myself to be unworthy. I am a gay man, which, according to your policy, means I am neither ‘morally straight’ nor ‘clean.’ It seems hypocritical to ask me to sign it.”

Kudos to Barney.
Random, but supposedly Barney Frank has one of the highest IQs of anyone in the House.

Anyone ever notice the tune the Barney theme is sung to?
“I love you,
You love me,
We’re a happy family..
…with a nick-nack paddywhat,
give your dog a bone,
This old man went rolling home…”
Yes, I could have the words to the original wrong, I admit it. Still, same tune.

I was a boy scout as a younger lad but I must say that the Boy Scouts of today is a complete joke and a disgrace to what it was meant to do.

In Canada, we have Scouts, but they are not called Boy Scouts. This is of course for the good reason that they allow girls in. Some groups are boys only or girls only and some are co-ed. As far as I know there is no insane provision against homosexuality. I should research it.
I was in Scouts and I have helped lead some Scout and Cub camping trips since then. I think it is still a great organizaion (at least here.) For me it was worth it simply for the camping experience.

Sorry for the quick subsequent post, but I found this article on homesexuality and scouts Canada. I was right that they have no problem with it. In fact there is a specific ‘gay’ group and Scouts Canada endorses it and gay members of other troups fully.
