Definitely a sad day around our house. But Andreas and I went out to the back yard and buried Tejasa just like we’ve buried all our rats: under a tree. I like the idea of little creatures becoming part of much larger creatures, so under a tree seems like the perfect spot for a little rodent to rest.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

She’s definitely a little depressed. I was thinking that it might be good to let her sniff Tejasa’s body, just so she understands what’s happened…but Dre didn’t feel like that was a good idea.
It’s hard because rats are such social animals…solitary rats get lonely. But we decided that we don’t want to get more rats (lifespan is just too short!), so it looks like Jaamini is just going to have to be by herself. We’re making sure to get her out with us several times a day for some cuddles, but it’s kind of sad to see a rat sleeping alone.
