This is the one-month signal flare warning: I turn 29 on May 16th.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

How do you feel about that? I am turning 29 and June and eeek! I keep telling myself that age ain’t nothing but a number and I still get i. d.-ed for everything, but eek! It’s not like I am giving up sex, drugs and rock and roll or buying my jeans at Eddie Bauer (wink) or driving around in a kid-encrusted mini-van, but eek!

Ivy, I’m feeling just fine about it. I know a lot of very inspired/inspiring 30somethings, and nary a mini-van in sight! Plus: the older I get, the funnier the fart jokes become!

Me Taurus too. Turning 35 next week. And we’ve had the minivan for 2 years now. Yikes.

I was 33 ten days ago. When my dad was my age he had four kids and had been married for twelve years. I have an awful feeling I’m going to be the one who makes the family name extinct (thank god for the seven others in the London phone book). In any case, since I’m 33 and therefore old, my prostate fell out years ago. I can’t reach down and pick it up because my back’s gone. There is now even grey hair in my chest! So do exactly the opposite to what I’ve been doing, and you’ll sail into your thirties with ease.

Forty-friggin-two on May 9. So that makes me 14 years and 51 weeks older than Electrolicious. Right? (Forgive me if the math is a little loose - there’s bourbon in my brain.) The thirties are a breeze, and the forties are when you start to figure out what you really want in life.

Our good friend Syd said that your thirties can be compared to sushi. More specifically, the soft fatty underbelly of the tuna - Toro - usually very tasty and something to be savored.

Another May 6er, eh? Me too…will be turning 34 this year. Ariel, your Saturn return is waning now and up ahead is the increased credibility of your 30’s…and from the looks of it, you’ll do JUST fine.

My brother (40 on April 22nd) told me something I got to agree with when I hit 30 - a good deal of the bullshit stops. You stop being ‘weird’ and become ‘eccentric’ instead. Quite a lot of the pressure’s off for good. 30’s pretty decent. And I’ve still got my health (cue loud snap as break hip climbing up from computer). Matt

Hey we have the same bday! I’ll be 26. May you be blessed with a bounty of books.
