In part to deal with the occupational hazards I wrote about recently, I’ve decided to switch to a standing desk at work. Although my adjustable-height desk here at The Paper has always had the option of being a standing desk, it wasn’t until I moved cubes (side note: I can now see a window! a tiny, six-inch tall sliver of window! WITH SKY!) that I decided to take the plunge.

Yesterday I did a little research, and today I made the switch. I’ve been standing for almost two hours, and so far, so good. I anticipate that I’ll toggle between standing and sitting, but it’s really nice to feel like I’m actively using muscle groups to hold myself up, instead of slumped over inert in a chair.
