Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
The other contract gig that I thought I was going to be picking up this fall fell through, so I’m back in The Basement. Andreas is looking for work. I’m working on an article for Figure and fiddling with my book proposal. It feels good to have the 8 months of wedding/honeymoon/travel chaos behind us. The wedding was a wonderful success, but I’m ready to get back to some other projects now.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

I think you need to be the fashion consultant for Figure. Are those covergirls in the Jaclyn Smith for Kmart collection?

Figure is a cross between a standard consumer magazine and a “magalog” for Lane Bryant, Catherine, and Fashion Bug. All the clothes shown come from those three stores, so no: not Kmart. But there are limits to what clothing is included. Then again, since it’s a magazine catering to plus-sizes, those three stores provide most of the clothing anyway. Because let’s be honest: Gucci doesn’t come in a size 14. More about Figure.

If Andreas is interested in doing anything related to streaming and hasn’t already, he might want to ping Steve Mack &/or Halley Bock who run Lux Media. They’re both awesome former RealNetworks folks (both of them were directors of the Media Lab there successively)and even if they aren’t quite right for him, there may be connections to be made. They’re also part of the super cool No Vote Left Behind, with another great RN guy - Jason Dennie

Thanks for representing for figure, Ariel! [even if those particular clothes are sort of struggling].
