• Dre and I heard U2’s new single, “Vertigo,” on the radio and had to ask each other, “Is this some long-lost Joshua Tree track?” It’s got that classic U2 sound that makes me want to rip of my skin and dance around like a monkey. I think I have listened to this song approximately 200 times in a row. I have turned it up loud, Captain.

• Could George Michael’s “Flawless” be his gayest song ever? It’s hard to top “Outside” (ultimate coming out song) and “Father Figure” (which must be on the official NAMBLA soundtrack), but “Flawless” does it, I think. Too bad the rest of the album is wasted on heinous ballads. But yes, George, I do know that I’m more than just some fucked up piece of ass. You’re so sweet.

• “Golden” by Jill Scott is totally my favorite get up and go get ‘em morning song. The rest of her new album can’t quite keep up, but that one track rocks.

• “Movin’ To My Beat” by J. Boogie & People Under The Stairs is channeling old school Will Smith. “Did a job digging, now J. Boogie got the women, movin’, livin’, and groovin’, soothin’ and what we sippin’? Bombay! That’s the Saffire style. Bombay! Bottom up the glass, dance and crack a fly smile.” Maybe you have to hear it to understand how Fresh Prince circa ‘89 this is. I love it.

• I like the radio version of the Black Eyed Peas new single much better than the album version. “Let’s Get It Started” works much better than “Let’s Get Retarded.” Not a bad vid either (we saw it in Barcelona and I wanted to dance around the hotel room).
