I like the idea of a Ffectometer, and I've been having some trouble with mine as well. I don't know if it's the early stages of dementia or what, but all of a sudden I'm losing my grip on some grammatical issues that I thought I had a handle on all these years. Besides the Ffectometer, I've recently started having problems with my Who'samatron.

And don't get me started on my Thatwhichator. There was NEVER any hope.

As former Mozilla hacker I'm thrilled that the project has finally put forward something people find actually useful.

Traditionally Mac builds were a bit slower and I don't have a good solution (except adding more memory, a notorious weak point of XML-based user interface in Firefox).

I'd recommend giving Camino a whirl: it uses the same internals like Firefox, except it looks a bit different:

http://www.mozilla.org/products/camino/

Camino was quite popular before the rise of Firefox and before Safari 1.0 came out.

Of course, Safari is a solid choice as well. It's based on a different rendering engine (KHTML from Konqueror), which is open-source as well. The core Safari team has some former Mozilla and Netscape developers and Safari has been significantly influenced by Mozilla - down to the code level. You might not have all your favorite Firefox extensions available for either Camino or Safari, but they both have equally good karma :-)
