Back in 1999, the scariest site on the web was the twisted, creepy Blair Witch Project promotional site. I’m not linking to it because the stuff that’s there now isn’t scary at all…but six years ago the boys from Haxan had me pissing my pants with terror, while sitting in a bright office in the middle of the day. THAT, my friends, is scary. In fact, the website was infinitely scarier than the movie itself.
I don’t like scary movies, but I do like scary websites. What’s the scariest site you’ve found?
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

This isn’t quite “scary” but it’s definitely quite creepy if you listen to it alone at night. It’s recordings of what’s called “numbers stations”… shortwave radio stations carrying nothing but broadcasts of people reading series of numbers over and over, in various languages. They’ve been around for decades, and assumption is that they’re espionage related, but there’s no official explanation as to what “numbers stations” really are.
Here’s a link to a blog entry someone recently wrote about it. From there there are several links to recordings of spooky sounding numbers stations broadcasts. LINK. *You’ll have to ignore the fact that it’s a far right political blog; but there’s nothing overtly political in the specific entry.

Scratch that. I think I just found my new scariest site ever found HERE. It’s a guy claiming his “Immortality Rings” can reverse aging. The whole thing’s worth checking out, but the BBS is the ultimate.

THIS is kinda scary until you figure out how it works, then you just feel silly for not realizing it sooner.

Gah! That Immortality Rings site tried to give me a virus, I think. Or something. Mcafee didn’t like it. Anyway, that numbers site WAS creepy - there was one recording of freaky freaky tones, and then this super strange kid’s voice reading number. EEEEEESH I’m getting creeped out just typing about it and I have no idea why. I gotta go turn on the radio.

THIS is the scariest site that I have ever seen in my life! It is so scary that I almost puked at what I saw! You see, I thought I wasn’t afraid of anything, until I saw this site!
