Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
I forgot to ask what everyone thinks of the linkage blog. Like it? Hate it? Understand how it works? The only way to permalink linkblog posts is to click the comment link. See? I figure folks won’t be linking those little posts often.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, is in bookstores now.

The linkage blog doesn’t display right for me in Firefox for Windows. It’s all stacked up at the top, above the entries. And actually the whole page layout looks a little screwy now. It looked all cool and off to the side on Firefox at home on my Mac. It also looks good on IE here at work.
Just thought you might want to know. But maybe it’s my problem.

I’m getting the same behaviour Karen mentioned, also on Firefox for Windows, but if I reload the page 2 or 3 times it eventually corrects itself.

Dave & Karen: the first time you hit the site, you’ll be pulling from the cached version of the CSS. If you do a hard refresh, it should correct itself and not give you a problem again. Lemme know if the problem persists or takes more than one refresh.

I’ve hit it several more times and haven’t had the problem again. It was probably the caching you metioned.
My only other minor observation, and this is just personal taste, is that the bold black dates kind of overpower the actual entries, at least for me. You might try experimenting with a lighter shade, or maybe attaching a date to each entry, in normal or italic text, rather than using the bold date headers.

oops, one more thing. you might want a line break before your comment count, or find some way to keep the comment count and talk bubble together. One of your entries I just saw, the talk bubble is on one line and the count is on the next.

yeah, it stacks on top w/firefox on a mac osx, but from work via explorer it works fine.

CTRL-R! CTRL-R! That should solve the stacking/css issue.

Also, I’m sure y’all are already noticing that linkblog means a LOT more posts from me. And a lot of movie stuff, since that’s what I look at all day long.

It didn’t work on safari for me either, the first few times but now, I don’thave a problem, so Maria, maybe its that cache thing Ariel was talking about?

i didn’t take the time to really understand how it works. so are you manually picking and choosing the sites and putting your own little blurb, kind of like what http://www.strangechord.com/ has?
i like it, regardless of how it works, and it looks fine on my Safari for OS X.

i hated it at first b/c all i could see were the linkage blogs which means i’ve missed out on everything after your entry on the 17th. but all’s right in the world again – it’s displaying properly. and now i notice that i’ve asked you to restate much of what you’ve written about (job offers, etc.) the last few days.
