Head Sway

It wasn’t until later that evening, when I was talking Bollywood with some friends, that I realized that the “oh no you di’int” side-to-side head sway that I saw in Beauty Shop is remarkably similar to the side-to-side head sway so prevalent in all my favorite Bollywoods. Then my cinematic world collapsed from the weight of all those cultural stereotypes.

did you know that the side-to-side head sway is India’s equivalent to our nodding our heads “yes”? It took me a while to get used to.
