In a concerted effort to ignore last minute homebuying stress, I’m going to focus on my birthday instead:

My 30th birthday is in less than a month. I’ve been thinking a lot about it, not in a scary way (I’m happy with what I’ve accomplished in these 30 years, and am excited for what I might do with the ones that remain) but just in a recognizing it way. I’ll be collecting my thoughts into something cohesive at some point.

I’ve also been thinking about what I want to do for my birthday. I haven’t had a debaucherous birthday in years (I’ve spent 4 of the last 5 birthdays in France), so I knew I wanted to do something sort of quiet … but it needed to be important and memorable. I’m thinking a little housewarming barbecue on Sunday the 15th, and then taking a day off from work for my birthday itself. I want to spent the day alone, doing something special for myself, so I think I’m going to go get soaked and scrubbed at the Olympus Spa. By myself. I’ve been reading about it and wow: seems like the perfect way to shed some old skin and step into my 30s nice and fresh. The next weekend we’re tentatively planning an overnight kayaking trip to Blake Island with another friend who’s turning 30. Kayaking trips and day spas. My goodness.

Oh, and some of you may have noticed the little greedy addition to my menu over there on the right. Oh yes. I may be turning 30, but I still loves me some prezzies.
