We’re a good chunk of the way through our first major home improvement project: installing French doors off of the back bedroom. Last weekend Andreas and Tere (my mom’s girlfriend and a skilled contractor) built a great little porch off of the back wall of the house. Then this recent weekend Andreas and his brother, Christian, hacked a hole in the wall and installed the doors. The doors are installed and fully functioning, but now comes the challenge of all the finishing work: the trim, the drywall, yadda yadda yadda. My contribution to the project has been as financier and provider of beer and lunch foods, so I’ve mostly stayed out of the way.
Here’s a picture of the hole in the wall … I’m building anticipation for the later picture of the doors installed. And as for the totally finished product? Weeeell, you may have to wait a while for that.
