Doug & Susan got married
19Sep2005 Filed under: I Like To WatchThis weekend my former coworker from The Paper got married to his girlfriend of (wait for it!) ten years. It was a great wedding up in the outrageously quaint town of Port Townsend. The groom asked me a few months ago if I would bring some hoops “for the kids.” I brought hoops, and of course it wasn’t just the kids who enjoyed them! I didn’t take any pictures, but thankfully Mssr. McGilles did, and I’ve flicked his photos.
I love this series, which shows what could happen to this little child’s hair if he’s not careful…

Great hoop pictures! Everyone looks like they’re having a blast, and the bride and groom will have a really interesting photo album to look back on in 30 years.

I still don’t get the hooping thing.
It seems silly and out of place.

Nope, J: you get it perfectly! At least the silly part. It’s absolutely silly. As for out of place? Depends how much you like feeling silly. I’m silly most everywhere (work, home, with my family), so it works for me. If that’s not how you are, then it makes sense that it would seem out of place. No harm, no foul.
PS: Cool site. Those Ts are awesome.

I absolutely love port townsend. i actually know people who live there. i visit once every few years. great pics! glad you had fun!

I’m so going to have a hula hoop at my wedding vow renewal someday. I know the hubby will be on board with it.

Hey! Thanks for posting the photos. The groom (freshly back from France) thanks you for bringing the hoops. I’m sure their presence confused a few folks, but they were deemed a hit by most.
That’s Zachary with the funky hair. In the 90s his dad was nicknamed “Kramer” due to his wild coiffure, so it runs in the family.
Props to McGilles, the king of the candids!
