Remember Kate Winslet boarding the Titanic? That’s how I’m packing for this cruise, for which I depart tomorrow. It’s a four-night cruise, yet I have packed three pairs of shoes, and enough cords to strangle an army: iPod charger, battery charger (for camera batteries), laptop charger, cell phone charger. I’m bringing numerous instruments of enjoyment: yoga mat, collapsible hoop. Clothes for schlepping to the beach, nice clothes for announcing contest winners in front of large crowds. Sunscreen for there, polar fleece to wear to the airport tomorrow. I’m packing in what Dori calls “Festival Mode.” Is there any chance I might want that black slip? Bring it! What about my battered ugly sun hat? Bring it! I’m packing the enormous suitcase I used for CPC — which means I’m using a suitcase that got me through a whole summer in New York to help me get through a whopping four days in the Bahamas. I am nothing if not over-prepared.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.
