I ordered a Sidekick. Because you know spending 8 hours on the computer at work isn’t enough. Spending a couple hours on the computer at home isn’t enough. I want access to my email and instant messenger every minute of the day.
No, honestly, I’m looking forward to never having to call 411 again (why bother when you’ve got google and a QWERTY keyboard at your fingertips?). I’m looking forward to being able to check my email when I’m at an airport or stuck on a bus. I’m looking forward to being able to use this amazing new technology called “text messaging” that everyone but me seems to use all the time. Also, I’m looking forward to moblogging again.
It should be arriving in the mail next week. I may lose my mind.

let me know how it goes - a few of my friends got them when they first came out but had issues and got something else (super -techy people who want every gadget to be PERFECT, though, you know). i’ve been wanting one for a while!

Yeah, the sidekick is definitely the low water mark for this kind of gadget — it just can’t compare to the Treo or a Blackberry. Then again, it also costs significantly less and I’m ok with its limitations. I don’t need it to access my work email, for instance. I don’t need it to act as a full PDA.

I’ve had my Sidekick for a few months and love it. It does all the pda-ish stuff I need it to do: email, calendar, reminders, etc, and is friendlier than any windows mobile device I’ve used. Things I use most often: bloglines mobile and google sms (“define†usually gets you wikipedia entries). Have fun!
